Sermon Series: Don't Take the Bait

You didn't invite it in. Offense rarely asks permission — it just shows up, in a comment, a decision that went the other way, a text left on read, someone getting what you were sure you deserved. By the time you notice it's there, it's already running the show.

Nobody feels offended and thinks they're the problem. They feel right. That's what makes this trap different from most — you don't fall into it thinking you were being reckless. You fall into it certain you were being honest.

This series isn't about whether the offense was real. Usually it was. Someone actually said it, did it, left you out, let you down. That's not the question.

The question is what you do with the offense next. Because there are really only four options, and most of us have already picked one without noticing we were choosing. Live in it. Bury it and pretend it's not there. Get even for it. Or actually let it go.

Three of those keep you caught. Over four weeks, we're going to find the one that doesn't.
